We invite you to be part of a truly remarkable occasion as we witness the dismantling of a captivating Social Art Installation at the Wall Memorial Center in Berlin. After an awe-inspiring 3.5 years on display, it’s time to bid farewell to this profound testament to human connection.
Imagine 3,000 handshapes, each one representing a unique bond between individuals, crafted from clay with love and care. In the summer and fall of 2019, over 20,000 strangers united on the streets of Berlin, connecting and finding common ground through handshakes. Together, they enclosed and shaped balls of clay into meaningful ‚Handshapes.’ These handshapes formed a symbolic wall of unification—a masterpiece of human collaboration.
Now, the time has come for this magnificent wall of Handshapes to fall gracefully to the ground. As the clay forms are soaked in water, they will dissolve back into the earth, symbolizing the impermanence of life and the cyclical nature of our existence.
In just 7 days, we will joyfully walk and dance upon this enriched earth, carrying the spirit of unity and connection within us. Afterward, the clay will be reverently buried in a special place, paying tribute to the profound impact it has had on our lives and the collective human experience.
The entire process, from the creation of the handshapes to their dissolution, has been expertly captured in a captivating timelapse video and a series of breathtaking photographs. These powerful visuals have been transformed into NFTs (non-fungible tokens) and will be available for purchase, allowing you to own a tangible piece of this extraordinary journey.
